Weekly Tidbits, Vol. 59

Flick by Jason Leung

So I was in attendence for DAIR's Refugees and AI event last Friday and it put me in a place of profound reflection in terms of the challenges we face with tech being used to harm the communties we come from and how we can work in collaboration to change those harms into benefits that we can all enjoy.

So much information was shared, but the following is the stuff that stuck with me.

Refugees, Migrants and AI - An encyclopedia of data covering the technology and laws that affect migration, with interviews of people affected by them.

Refugess In Libya - The site of the organization of the super hero David Yambio who tracks abuses against migrants in Europe and North Africa and advocates for justice for them.

Females Technology Foundation - A nonprofit based in Uganga founded by Yousra Hassan with the goal of empowering women through the use of technolgy.

Data Workers' Inquiry - Tech workers from all over the planet ban together to tell their stories and share their experiences to push for progress in the industry.

Acces Now - An organization dedicated to defending the digital rights of people all over the planet.
